We call it luxury diving, and there is nothing quite like it!!

Thailand & Myanmar

With warm and protected waters year-round, these two countries provide stunning diving opportunities for both beginners, or those that want to learn, and advanced divers. The Thailand and Myanmarese authorities have done well to protect the main areas so the coral is still in good health and the reefs attract a great population of fish. In one trip with Lamima, it is possible to dive four world-class dive destinations: the Mergui Archipelago, Surin Islands, Similan Islands, and South of Phuket.

BLACK ROCK (Mergui) In the very northeast of the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar, this site has been left to bloom. Divers will be amazed at the Shark population and species variety here. Alongside them, divers can expect to see schools of Rainbow Runners, Tuna and Trevally with large Barracuda to be spotted too. A true highlight of this area.

RICHELIEU ROCK (Similan Islands) – A horseshoe-shaped seamount attracting Mantas and Whale Sharks from February to April. Even if diving outside these months, this reef is a kaleidoscope of color with its resident school of Barracuda, Giant Cuttlefish, Seahorses, and Harlequin Shrimp to be found in the nooks-and-crannies.

HIN MAUNG (South of Phuket) – This a large seamount open to currents so plenty of nutrients pass through here. Divers can expect an action dive here as we watch the millions of resident baitfish being fed upon by Striped Trevally, Rainbow Runners, and Rock Cod. Again Manta Rays and Whale Sharks can make an appearance here and Reef Sharks can pass by in the blue.

Komodo National Park

Komodo and the surrounding areas are world-famous for diving because of the nutrients exchanged between the Flores Sea in the north, and the Indian Ocean in the south. Everything can be found here from large pelagic fish, Dolphins, and Whales to tiny critters.

BATU BOLONG – This is a large coral pinnacle reaching from the surface to 70 meters and acts as a magnet for all the life available in the park. On every dive, you will be surrounded by swarms of Anthias and Fusiliers and these bring in the bigger fish. Watch National Geographic in front of your eyes as Giant Trevally and Dogtooth Tuna attack the smaller fish. Hawksbill turtles lie lazily on the reef feeding as Whitetip Reef Sharks circle on the corners.

MAKASSAR REEF – A 3-km reef attracting Manta Rays for cleaning and feeding. Divers can drift along this shallow reef stopping close to the coral pinnacles that have Mantas, here we wait to see if they are interested to take a closer look at us. Most of the time we find that they swoop down directly above us and often perform a Manta ballet with one-and-other.

CASTLE ROCK – A seamount used by Marble Groupers as a breeding ground but also home to big schools of fish such as Unicorn Fish, Batfish, Big-eye Trevally, and Sweetlip Snapper. Using reef hooks, divers can wait at the point of the current for the feeding to start. Almost as if a horn was blown Napoleon Wrasse, Giant Moray Eels, Whitetip Reef Sharks, and Giant Trevallys form a group looking for weakfish. This is often a complete Fish Soup dive!

Raja Ampat

Known as having the most marine diversity on Earth, this area is a diver’s dream. Nutrient-rich currents meet here from the Pacific Ocean and the Ceram Sea providing a unique breeding ground that has resulted in the creation of many endemic species. This area has the best coral growth you are likely to see worldwide.

SARDINE REEF – A large seamount home to huge schools of Sardines feeding close to the reef. Sardines are food the bigger stuff so anything is possible here. While divers cruise around the coral reef in comfort, expect to see White Tip and Grey Reef Sharks, Green and Hawksbill Turtles, Wobbegong Sharks hiding under coral ledges, Octopus, Mantis Shrimp, and much more.

AIRBOREI – A shallow reef with a few coral pinnacles used by Manta Rays as cleaning stations. Watch train formations of Mantas fight for positioning to have parasites cleaned from their bodies. This is a very easy dive and accessible by snorkelers too.

BLACK ROCK – Divers only need to descent 5 meters to witness the fantastic coral growth here. With pelagics such as Tuna and Trevally passing through this reef attracts all the reef indicator fish so expect another fish soup dive.
