"Where on earth is Djibouti ?", we hear you ask. Djibouti is a country located in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea in the north, Ethiopia in the west and south, and Somalia in the southeast. The remainder of the border is formed by the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden at the east. It is a mostly French and Arabic speaking country of dry shrublands, volcanic formations and Gulf of Aden beaches.

Djibouti is being considered a relatively unknown holiday destination, but every year from mid October to February, it's the home to resting migrating whale sharks, although Whale Sharks can be seen throughout the year, encounters are especially common from October to February, it is common to see many whale sharks, include juvenile Whale Sharks, which stay within the safe confines of Djibouti’s coast line.

Coral cover isn't so amazing in the southern Red Sea, but there are lots of fish: alongside Whale Sharks, divers can encounter Manta Rays, Beaked and Pilot Whales. Most species of Dolphin are represented in numbers off Djibouti’s coast. Where there are Dolphins there are invariably Sharks. Grey and Nurse Sharks are the most commonly encountered species, whilst both Tiger and Blue Sharks have occasionally been seen. You can easily encountered Bat fish, eagle ray, and manta rays duinrg any dives.

We have few liveaboards offer a regular 7 nights liveaboard diving trips, the liveaobard trips departs from the Djibouti City. While the Whale Sharks of Djibouti are the big draw here there are a good number of Red Sea dive sites to choose from: The Djibouti Crack, Ghoubet al Kharab/Devil’s Goblet, Seven Brothers, Moucha Islands, Tadjourah Gulf...etc.

Visit from mid October to early February and you have chance to see the extraordinary whale shark aggregation at Arta Beach, but the visibility is poor. Visibility during summer time is better, but there's less chance of seeing the whale sharks and weather is very hot.
