Spirit of Freedom e' lunga 37 metri e larga 7, costruita per lunghe navigazioni nella regione Mar dei Coralli, offre crociere sub all'esplorazione del Grande Barriera Corallina Australiana.

Il salone interno e' un ottimo posto per rilassarsi ed oziare, ci sono comode poltrone e cuscini,qui si trova una macchina per il caffe' una selezione di te ed acqua calda, una libreria che include libri dedicati al mare, lettore DVD, televisore a schermo piatto. Per i fotografi c'e' una camera dedicata a loro con stazioni di lavoro e prese di corrente a 110 volt.

La sala da pranzo al centro della nave serve naturalmente per mangiare, ma anche come salone per il briefing e punto di riunione. Ci sono sedie e tavoli, un grande televisore che viene usato per mostrare le mappe subacquee per il briefing che anticipa le immersioni. Qui molte persone lavorano con il loro laptop dato che quando c'e' campo ci si puo' collegare ad internet tramite la WIFI.

Spirit of Freedom ha un bar con una buona fornitura di vini australiani e neozelandesi, birre, superalcolici e bevande non alcoliche,l'equipaggio sara' lieto di servirvi, ma se fosse occupato sarete i benvenuti a farlo da soli. La barca usa un sistema di fiducia per tutto quello che viene consumato durante la crociera dai clienti che pagheranno il tutto solo alla fine della crociera.

Il ponte superiore e' una zona splendida per rilassarsi tra una immersione e l'altra, ci sono un'area all'ombra ed una al sole per abbronzarsi, per accomodarsi ci sono tavoli, sedie, panche imbottite e sdrai per oziare cullati dalla brezza marina. La sera diventa il luogo per fare quattro chiacchiere, bere un drink o gustarsi una grigliata con gli altri compagni d'avventura.

La zona dedicata ai sub ha 26 postazioni individuali con ceste e cassetti per le attrezzature, bombole, pesi e compressori per la ricarica d'aria o di Nitrox. Per i fotografi c'e' un tavolo, una vasca per il risciacquo ed una frusta con aria a bassa pressione per la cura degli apparecchi foto/video. A poppa ci sono docce di acqua dolce e degli asciugamani vengono dati dopo ogni immersione.

Cabine

Spirit of Freedom ha 11 cabine e puo' accomodare un massimo di 26 subacquei.

Tutte le cabine hanno bagno privato con doccia calda, aria condizionata, cassetti sotto il letto ed armadio.

1 Cabina Ocean View Deluxe: 1 letto matrimoniale, comodino, tavolino, TV/DVD ed ubicata sul ponte superiore.

1 Cabina Ocean View Standard: 1 letto matrimoniale, TV/DVD ed ubicata sul ponte superiore.

Experience the amazing diversity of the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea. Dive the ‘Ribbon Reefs’, 120km of picturesque coral reef teaming with marine biodiversity, before heading out to Osprey Reef where 1000 metre walls emerge from the ocean depths. Here you will experience astoundingly clear water, massive red and yellow soft corals, reef sharks, whalers, hammerheads, mantas, and big fish action.

7 DAY FAR NORTH EXPEDITIONS (ONLY FEW TIMES A YEAR)

Spirit of Freedom offering only few trips per year, with flights in and out of the small Cape York town of Lockhart River to maximise time in this amazing region.
Description：
The Far Northern Reefs are known as the isolated reefs north of Lizard Island that extend to the east the tip of Cape York peninsular, around 500 nautical miles north of Cairns. One of the last totally pristine areas of the Great Barrier Reef, these reefs are seldom visited by any boats, and many of the hundreds of reefs in the region, are yet to be fully explored. The Far Northern reefs are famous for their fantastic wall dives, pinnacles alive with fish, massive coral heads, and reef fish and invertebrates of incredible variety and colour. The nesting season for the green sea turtle runs from October through February, and November and December sees thousands upon thousands of turtles descending on the many small coral cays in the region. The Spring is also the best weather season to dive the outer walls, offering a great chance of encounters with sharks, manta rays and massive schools of pelagics. The diving in this region can be challenging, and these tours are only recommended for the experienced diver.

DEPARTURES

Spirit of Freedom offers return courtesy transfers from all Cairns City Hotels. If you are staying outside the central district, or at the Northern Beach suburbs, you will need to arrange your own transfer on the departure/ return day.

Spirit of Freedom recommends arrival into Cairns at least the day prior to your trip, as unforseen flight delays or lost baggage may cause inconvenience or you may even miss the boat. However, if you are flying into Cairns on day of departure, please note that you will need to make your own way to our dive shop or the vessel itself.

Diving Seasons

JANUARY THROUGH APRIL：January through April is a wetter season with tropical monsoonal weather bringing amazing feeding and marine action, plus a great opportunity to see juvenile fish following the breeding season. Manta Rays are also commonly spotted on the Great Barrier Reef at this time. The air temperature will range 23-32°C (74-90°F) and the water temperature will average 29°c /84°F.

MAY THROUGH AUGUST：May through August is mostly sunny and clear of rain, although the south-easterly trade winds can be a bit stronger at this time. Air temperatures range from minimums around 15°C/ 60°F to maximums around 26°C/ 79°F. The water will be at its coolest dropping to around 24°C/ 75°F, but generally offers great visibility. In the months of June and July, Dwarf Minke Whales are commonly sighted on the Ribbon Reefs, having migrated from the Antarctic seas to the relatively warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Growing to a length of around 8 metres, this small, gentle whale has an inquisitive nature that draws them close to boats in the region, often lingering with divers and snorkelers, as close as a few feet away.

SEPTEMBER THROUGH TO DECEMBER：September through to December sees the water warm up, with generally clear sunny days and light winds. Many coral reef species breed at this time, with the coral spawning en-masse in October and/ or November. Manta Rays are commonly spotted in the Coral Sea from April to October. The air temperature will range 20-32°C (68-90°F) and the water temperature usually averages 27°C/ 80°F.
