Boat

Carpe Diem Phinisi is a traditional Indonesian two masted sailing boat built in 2012 and following more than 400 years of tradition. It was beautifully designed in South Sulawesi using ironwood and teak, and it is specifically designed and operated for small groups of passengers.

Carpe Diem Phinisi offers a well appointed indoor saloon where guests can gather around the large 10 seater table. The saloon also houses a library containing numerous books. The large open deck space in front of the deckhouse is typically used for alfresco dining, chilling out and it can be used as a yoga studio with unparalleled views. Carpe Diem Phinisi also offers a deck space on top of the deckhouse which constitutes a great spot to relax or simply watch the world go by thanks to several outdoor sleeping mattresses.

Meals are all prepared by a chef who takes the utmost care to ensure that guests enjoy delicious food during their cruise. Asian and international menus are served everyday from locally sourced fresh ingredients. You may also taste the freshest seafood provided from local fishermen. Specific receipes can be arranged if you have any special dietary needs. You will enjoy a warm breakfast buffet style, an either served or buffet lunch, afternoon snacks, cakes and fruits between two dives, and an either buffet or BBQ dinner. Drinking water, tea, coffee and non-alcoholic soft drinks and juices are available at anytime. Carpe Diem Phinisi can also supply alcoholic drinks on request.

Carpe Diem Phinisi's crew has paid meticulous attention to the cabin design and aesthetics in order to provide comfort and a warm ambiance.

Carpe Diem Phinisi is fully equipped for divers to enjoy themselves. All dives will be accompanied by qualified dive guides bringing together the unique combination of local knowledge and international standards. You will find a full DAN First Aid and oxygen equipment on board, and 12 full sets of equipment are free to use for all divers. Carpe Diem Phinisi also has a fresh water shower on deck.


Cabins

Carpe Diem Phinisi has 4 comfortable cabins and can accomodate up to 10 guests per trip.

All cabins come with an ensuite shower, sink and toilet, an individual air-conditioner, a desk, a chair and ample storage space. Free towels, soap, shower gel and shampoo are provided.

Cabin 1 - Pala :
Located on the main deck, the Pala cabin is a large double cabin spanning almost the entire width of the boat. It is adorned with large forward facing windows and a skylight.

Cabin 2 - Cengkeh :
Located on the lower deck, the Cengkeh cabin can be used as either a twin cabin or a double cabin as the twin single beds have been especially designed to be joined to form a comfortable double bed. Natural light and ventilation are provided by a porthole and a large skylight.

Cabin 3 & 4 : Pandan and Kayu Manis :
Located on the lower deck, the two cabins are mirror images of each other and are capable of sleeping up to 3 guests in a double/single bunk bed configuration. These cabins can also be used for two single guests. Natural light and ventilation are provided by a porthole and a skylight.


Diving

Carpe Diem Phinisi mainly offers liveaboard trips to Komodo and Raja Ampat & Misool. During the right season of the year, it also offers different liveaboard crossing trips: to Maumere, Alor, Banda Sea, Ring of Fire island, Ambon, Saumlaki, Cenderawasih Bay and more.


Raja Ampat 9D/8N (26 dives) or 8D/7N (22 dives)

Sorong - Raja Ampat - Sorong

Day 1. (0 dives)
5pm. Arrival from Jakarta, Makassar, or Manado to Sorong. On arrival our staff will meet you at Sorong Airport to assist you and transfer to Blue Manta. Once all guests are onboard you will receive a very warm welcome, briefing, dinner, then we set sail to South Raja Ampat Misool area.

Day 2. (4 dives) Daram island area

Day 3. (4 dives) Nudi Rock, Tank Rock, Whale Rock, & night dive

Day 4 (3 dives) Misool; Boo Corner, The Window, Magic Mountain, sail over night to North Raja Ampat

Day 5. (4 dives) Yanggefo Island; Mayhem Ridge, Citrus ridge, Deep rock, & night dive

Day 6. (4 dives) Mansuar Corner, Manta Sandy, Cape Kri, & night dive

Arcipelago di Alor

Best time for diving
April to November, as this is when both visibility and weather are at their best, while September is the best time to spot Mola Mola. The currents usually are strongest in October and November, making conditions more challenging. From late December until early March, Alor is usually considered as off-season due to the rainy season.

About temperatures
Air : winter months are between 26°C - 29°C, summer months are between 27°C - 32°C.
Sea : between 25°C - 27°C from March to April & October to November, between 27°C - 30°C from May to September. Thermoclines are common year round, the water can drop at times to 22°C or lower.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 5 mm full wetsuit. If you get cold easily, we recommend also bring gloves and a hood, or even a 7 mm full wetsuit.

Diver requirement
Suitable for all levels of diver from beginners to experienced. However, in the open blue, the current can be strong at times, so divers should to be comfortable with their skills. Embarkation / Disembarkation
Alor liveaboard trips are usually from Maumere to Maumere, guests need to fly to Maumere airport (MOF).
However, some liveaboards often combine Alor with other destinations like Komodo, Banda Sea, Raja Ampat. Then you might only need to arrive or depart from Maumere.

Visa Requirements
Indonesia offers a free visa on arrival service for many nationalities which allows visitors to stay in the country for up to 30 days. A list of countries that are eligible for visa on arrival can be found on the Indonesian Government's Directorate General of Immigration.

Please note: Immigration officials in Indonesia may ask for proof of onward travel (e.g. a return or onward air ticket).

Vaccinations
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers over the age of 9 months arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.

Mare di Banda

Best time for diving
October to November & March to April, the seas are generally calmer during these months and in October to November there is higher chance to see hammerhead sharks. From May to August the surface conditions can get quite rough.

The visibility is generally good to excellent in Banda Sea areas, except in Ambon bay and in other bays for critter dives. Currents are low to moderate on most of the sites, however, strong currents may occur at times.

About temperatures
Air : range between 25°C - 31°C year-round.
Sea : range between 26°C - 29°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 3 - 5 mm full wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement

Raja Ampat

Periodo : La stagione per le crociere e' tutto l'anno. La migliore stagione e' da dicembre a marzo con la miglior visibilita'. Molte barche evitano Raja Ampat da meta' luglio a meta' settembre a causa della probabilita' di trovare forte vento con onde e pioggia.

Clima : Raja Ampat si trova all'equatore ed ha un clima caldo ed umido. La temperatura dell'aria e' costante con 31 gradi di massima il giorno e 24 gradi la notte, l'umidita' media e' dell'83%.

Acqua : La temperatura dell'acqua e' abbastanza costante e calda tra i 27 e 29 gradi.

Abbigliamento : Vestiti leggeri e che vi protegga dai raggi solari ed una giacca a vento nel caso di pioggia e per la sera.

Halmahera

Best time for diving
October to November and March to May, Halmahera can be dived all year round, but due to the monsoon season, from June to September it can be windy and the sea can be rough. And from December to February is considered as the rainy season.

Visibility is usually very good, ranging from 20-30 meters, Inside the bays the visibility may be less. Currents can be strong in the straits, weak in the areas protected by the islands.

About temperatures
Air : generally ranges between 25°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : it is warm all year round, about 27°C - 31°C

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 3 mm full wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement

Depending on which itinerary you choose, the embarkation / disembarkation can be in Bitung > Manado (MDC), Ternate (TTE), Bacan (LAH/WUB), or Morotai (OTI). The international airport with the best connections is Jakarta (CGK). You can also route through Bali (DPS) if you prefer.

However, some live­aboard trips will combine Halmahera with other destinations like Sulawesi (Lembeh), Raja Ampat, then the embarkation and disembarkation will be different. So please ask our agent to know the exact port for your trip.
